  • Had a great experience! My family and I got the gourmet chicken sandwich and the southern burger. They were truly fantastic! So flavorful and well made! The onion rings were also fantastic! I loved the atmosphere and service was great!

  • Passing through Virginia and googling for a place to eat on a Saturday afternoon. The building is very unassuming, like a regular residential house without a sign on it. When you stepped in it did feel like a very welcoming home. Our server was extremely friendly and took great care of us. He could tell it’s our first time so he made sure to explain the nuance of their menu, like how their Caesar dressing is unconventional or how certain side dishes are made. I had the skirt steak and hubby had the ribeye and they are both delicious! Both steak are marked “MP” and we didn’t ask how much beforehand, when we got the bill it’s really a good deal for the amount of food we got! The pasta alfredo side dish is really good! You know it’s the same quality as the pasta entree. The creamed spinach is unconventional with a little breadcrumb and other seasoning, you know they put thought into each side dishes even tho the name may sound like anyone else. Don’t think we will pass by this area again so we are very glad to find this gem while we had the chance!

  • We stopped in the afternoon to get a late lunch. The server was really nice just slow. The food was really good which made up for the service. I would eat here again

  • Great food and service the first time there. The second time, the food wasn't as good, but service was still top-notch. Found out I'm not a fan of flash-fried spinach. It was like if spinach was turned into cotton candy and dissolved into tiny fragments in your mouth.

  • A genuine local place that has been a mainstay in this town for over 70 years. Stick to the basics and you’ll do well here. Pan fried catfish platter hit the spot with real hush puppies and very good coleslaw. The fried green tomatoes also hit the spot. My companion’s chicken dish was too salty however. Our salads were fresh and well prepared. Would love to see more local wines on the menu- Rebec Vineyards, Ankita Ridge, and Lazy Days — all Amherst County small family-owned wineries. It would be great to play up the seriously local vibe of this establishment. It’s a happy place that exudes authentic local character.

  • We will be back! Stopped for breakfast. Everything was delicious. Cari Ann was awesome. I had French Toast -- two thick slices of bead and true French toast custard (not just Wonder bread dipped in scrambled eggs), perfectly grilled w/ slight crunch on the outside, fluffy (not slimy) on the inside. A sprinkling (not avalanche) of powdered sugar. The bacon was perfectly crispy without being burned. The only way this could be better is if the syrup were warmed. My husband had an omlette that was also very good. Next time we're in the area will definitely make sure we stop for lunch or dinner!
